UGH shhh okay I am doing my best to catch up on the days I missed! Last night I did my birthday post (which was super ridiculously long) and so now I will write what happened yesterday!
1. Social Enterprise
Today was our launch day, and basically, the whole four hours consisted of rather dull and unnecessary presentations that tried to explain things that were already covered (in detail) in their info packs. I got a little excited and answered too many questions haha I AM A KEEN PARTICIPATOR OF LIFE, I AM NOT ONE TO WATCH FROM THE SIDELINES! I saw a guy from MUNA who I recognized, and said hi but couldn't really make any other opportunities to socialise with other students. I'm keen to do social enterprise and am really excited to help out the community somehow!!! Too bad I have no substantial ideas as of yet. BTW my group consists of Izzy, Cerys, and Aneeka. GON' BE FUN!
2. Dinner
After social enterprise I went out with Izzy, Cerys, and Faizah to get a bite to eat and then watch The Great Gatsby. Izzy had arrived to the launch day in her netball uniform since she went straight from there, and ended up forgetting her top, so she had to borrow Faizah's jumper. For, you know, decency and all. On our way, I popped into Smith and Caugheys and booked a ball make up appointment with Bobbi Brown on a whim. I'm going to cancel it though, because I think $90 is a bit steep for ball make up this year. Even if you do redeem it from the products you get to keep, I think I'll leave my splurging to next year. Apparently my parent's friend/restaurant manager was a make up artist back in Shanghai though, so I'm gonna ask her about maybe doing my make up the next time I see her. Going to run a trial first though, and need to get some products since I barely have anything.
Oops sorry got a bit off track there. Well, we met up with the rest of the group (10 people, not bothering listing everyone, you know who they are) and had dinner at the international food court hahaha classy. I love that place, man. Everything's cheap but still tasty, and a way better alternative to fast food eg burger king. I had korean and was so full after it that I physically felt like I was going to throw up if I moved at all. After a bit, I recovered slightly, and went with Cerys and Ling to some tea place, but due to our terrible sense of direction, we made a whole circuit around a block to get there, and realised when we were there that the place was across the street to where we had been -____-
Had an interesting convo over Ling's ever-scandalous love life on the way and there. Bless her tbh <3
3. Gatsby
When we got to the cinemas and tried to buy our tickets, the worker was pretty bloody incompetent and we lost our seats because she took too long trying to organise it, and didn't actually put the tickets through processing wtf??? She gave us seats that were on their own because there wasn't any others left (which sucked) but we ended up just taking up the whole front row because FUCK YOU THAT'S WHY
The Great Gatsby wasn't really what I was expecting in that the CGI effects were a bit shoddy and unsophisticated??? IDK, I still enjoyed it though. But if you've seen it, I guess you might be able to get what I mean. Eg when we first meet Gatsby, and he turns around, and there are fireworks behind him - the lighting on his face made it SO obvious that it was against a green screen. I can't help but wonder if all the terrible lighting was done on purpose to illustrate Gatsby's ludicrous and false lifestyle and the preposterousness of his parties??? Like, they must've had a huge budget that would've allowed better green screen lighting, right? I found myself analysing the movie so much while I was watching it!! It's actually very amusing, haha. I nearly screamed out "PATHETIC FALLACY" at one point because I got so excited over identifying it.... Ms Moy would be proud.
NGL had a few moments where I started singing along to Young and Beautiful. No shame.
If you've seen the movie, leave a comment and tell me what you thought of it!! Did u think it lived up to the book?
Extra 4. Talked to this guy on facebook and debated with him for ages over alternative medicine hahahaha... TOK - bringing people together since 2013.

seventeen
5/07/2013
Jesus, where do I even begin? This won't be a "3 things" because too much stuff happened for me to post it only in 3 categories. Well, I'll try to keep it in chronological order, at least?
The morning began with me waking up at an ungodly hour for choir (shut up, 6:45am is early for me). It took me a good ten seconds from when I woke up before I remembered "oh hey... it's my birthday today". Then, as with every morning, I briefly debated with myself on whether I would be late if I slept for another five minutes and almost gave in (which would've led to some disastrous consequences i.e. missing choir) but decided against it. Damn man, why is the world so dark at 7am? Seems to me that our good ol' sun is one lazy son of a bitch.
But I'm getting off track here. You don't care about my morning get up routine, you want to know about what exciting things happened on my birthday! And trust me, from my point of view, there was a LOT of exciting things that were happening to me! I should mention, however, that for the whole day, it barely even felt as if it was my birthday at all. Even with all the attention and all the presents and lovely things people did for me, I didn't feel any different as a barely-seventeen year old than how I felt as an almost-retired-sixteen year old. But I guess most people feel like this on their birthdays. Though I always forget by the following year....
At the end of choir, Saints sang me a perfectly tuned, beautifully harmonized rendition of happy birthday, and I awkwardly had to stand there, caught half in the process of packing my choir folder up. Humanity has made many breakthroughs in modern medicine, yet to this day, no one has come up with a solution to the pressing issue of "what the fuck am I supposed to do with myself when a group of people are singing happy birthday to me?!?".
Izzy B and Nee were waiting and hiding at the entrance of the PAC and ambushed me with balloons and presents, which was suuuuch a lovely surprise! Izzy had made me brownies (which are so fucking delicious oh my god how do people bake?!) and had made a card (see below). Renee got me an adorable pen, some of those novelty erasers, and a towel lollipop that I'm pretty sure isn't edible.
I walked to my locker, where I ran into Cathee, who then presented me with her fucking MINDBLOWING CARD
No guys I'm serious. THIS SHIT
BLEW
MY
MIND
DO YOU SEE IT? DO U SEE THE AMOUNT OF TIME AND EFFORT THAT CARD MUST'VE TAKEN??? I love Cathee so much omg what a GB ok can we all just give Cathee a big round of applause?! PS on the bottom right corner of the 3rd photo (ie the back cover of the card) is a snapchat of me and Lachie (next to fat!vicky). Teehee.
Bell rang (BRRRRNNNGGGGG!! - onomatopaeia always brings life to a story) and we went to p1 which was Chem. Now, technically nothing significant related to my actual birthday happened in Chem, however, we did attempt a distillation of alcohol to make wine! Am I a nerd to say that it was super fun? I am, and I'M NOT EVEN ASHAMED OF IT. It took us a while to get the distillation kit parts together and then we nearly burned the lab down when the bunsen burner tipped over (NOT OUR FAULT), and our teacher was taking photos of us for our eventual graduation (on her phone lol). We all ran out of time towards the end but Faizah, Zavara, and I got like, one drop of alcohol produced and it tested positive with permanganate and we were SO STOKED!!!! WE MADE WINEEEEEEEEE!!!! Omg the technician came in and was like "lol getting drunk on the last day of school?" and I got SO confused because isn't that just such an odd thing to say..... and then I remembered that we were making wine hahahaha oops.
Second period bio was less exciting but at the end Mrs O randomly youtubed a "Happy Birthday" song and we were all like wtf hahahahahha. It wasn't even the original Happy Birthday song?? So alty. At Tutor Group time we had house meeting (unexciting) and then I ran into people doing a bake sale and convinced them to give me a free cookie because of my birthday haha oops abusing birthday power.
At morning tea I went to my locker and in it I found a present from Sophie!! She gave me some reeeeally nice skincare products which I am seriously hoping will work its magic on me! I didn't actually know who the present was from and I had to read the whole note before I realised it was Sophie (she signed it off with "van sexy" so I guess that's her official nickname now. Leavers shirt, perhaps?)
At lunchtime I FINALLY got to unwrap my present from Cathee, Steph, Jo (Joey), and Cherry. Okay, lemme tell you a little bit about what I knew prior to my discovery of what the gift was. Joey had been complaining about how she had to carry this gift all the way from Newmarket, and how heavy it was. Multiple people told me "oh you're going to LOVE it". Cathee reinforced how it wasn't something off my (very limited) wishlist when I asked her (multiple times).
Thus, I concluded that all signs pointed to them getting me a life sized blow up doll of Jensen Ackles.
Just kidding. Not really.
Yeah, so I had a feeling that they got me what they got me, except Cathee threw me off a bit when she said it wasn't on my wishlist, and that it was fragile. I'll keep you casual readers from dying from suspense - they got me... DRUMROLL PLEASE.... A BOX SET OF A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE (AKA GAME OF THRONES) AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *ETERNAL SCREAMING*
Yes, well. ASOIAF was on my wishlist, and books, as far as I'm concerned, aren't particularly fragile. I later found out that Cathee is a lying little deceiver (for good reason) and that the reason it was fragile was because one side of the box set was all covered in rows of sticky note messages left by people wishing me happy birthday!! ISN'T THAT JUST THE SWEETEST THING? I'm going to stick all the messages (and Cathee's card) up on my wall in my room!
Before I was about to unwrap the present, Nicole said she was going to film my reaction, to which I responded "nah, don't bother, I never have very entertaining reactions to things like this!". Cathee convinced her to film anyway, and boy am I glad she did. If you guys haven't seen the video, click here for the facebook link of it. Not gonna lie, they really made me eat my prior words. I DEFINITELY reacted! I ripped off a piece of newspaper and under it I saw an upside down "and fire" and you can literally see my moment of realisation where I put two and two together and complete the rest of the sentence "a song of ice and fire" and immediately start screaming and ripping the rest of the newspaper off. This fucked up the sticky notes at the top a little bit (i.e. why it was fragile) but Cathee managed to save it. And then once it was all unwrapped I just sat there and screamed because I OWN THE ASOIAF SERIES OH MY GODDDDDDDDDD I'M SO EXCITED TO READ IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I COULDN'T STOP SCREAMING?!!!?!?!?
After lunch we had a little debate over alternative medicine in TOK, where I was for alternative medicine and Nadia was against it. It's interesting because even though I really am not into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at home (my mum is a qualified practitioner of all the shit eg acupuncture, moxabustion, cupping, etc) whenever there's a debate about alternative medicine, I always argue FOR the use of alternative medicine. I mean, I have all this background knowledge of it because of all that my mum's explained to me, and I almost feel as if it's my duty to defend the honour of what she studies/practices! Everyone gave really positive feedback about the debate which was really nice!
I had a free period for my last period of the term, and said a goodbye and gave a hug to our head-librarian (don't think that's the right title) Mrs M who's leaving. Cathee then came home with me because we were going out to dinner later. Nothing exciting happened at my house because nothing exciting ever happens at my house. Some stressful shit with one of the tickets occurred where the girl I had sold one of my tickets to no longer wanted it anymore, and I needed to find another person to go as a replacement. Funny how things work out in the end though... When we went to pick up Sueyeon to go to the restaurant, I saw Angela's silhouette in the darkness. Angela lives right in front of Sueyeon's place, and she was outside in the middle of bringing groceries into the house when I saw her and started yelling her name from my dark, tinted car. After much confusion and screaming (mainly from me) I convinced her to take the extra ticket and ended up sorting all the shit out, yay!!!
We got to dinner (on time, I might add!) and this place, Da Vinci, that Lizzi suggested, ended up not being the restaurant that Lizzi had went to hahahaha. The people who came to dinner were Cathee, Sueyeon, Lizzi, Steph, Samai, and Mei. Samai and Cathee couldn't stay for Stage Challenge afterwards, but the rest of us had to get to the show which started at 7pm, meaning that we were in such a rush because the restaurant didn't open until 6pm. Basically we were shoving down food and ordered the fastest to prepare on the menu (pizza and pasta - damn I wanted to try their lamb, sigh). The waitress got my order wrong, but I think it may have been because of my shoddy pronunciation that confused her.
At the start of dinner, Lizzi presented me with her and Jade's present which was... GASP, a COUNTRY ROAD BAG!!!!! I was sooooo stoked omg, I can now be part of the club of stereotypical St Cuths girls! All I need now is a macpac! The one they got me is an aqua blue which is adorable and will probably be incredibly ostentatious, especially if I plan on using it outside of school! OMG the funniest thing is, my brother bought me a country road bag, and called me in the middle of dinner telling me to check my snapchat. The photo he sent me was of the selection of country road bags and he was like "which one?". At this point, I had already gotten Lizzi and Jade's bag and I was like aww shit! He had already bought the bag, so he needed to return it, and I think he decided to get a harddrive instead for us to share.
At the end of dinner, our waitress was taking her sweet time calculating each individual's money and change required, and Lizzi looked like she was going to explode from impatience. By then it was already past 6:50 and it would take us 10 minutes to get to Aotea Square, which meant we were already a little late, ah non! Couple that with the ridiculously steep hills in certain parts of Auckland City, and my heels, and you've got a damn stressful journey!
When we got to stage challenge (over 5 minutes late?), it was still the opening address so we didn't miss out on anything at all! I'll just highlight some of the show. There was a really creepy but incredibly cool one by Massey which I really liked, and they got 1st in Raw division. St Cuths managed to get every award for excellence except for soundtrack, including Set!! What!!!! Okay, I'm allowed to criticise Set because I was part of Set, and although the couple of pieces of set (the rock walls) that we actually managed to make were pretty cool, I'm incredibly surprised we were included in the awards! At first, I didn't realise that lots of schools could win a prize for excellence in set, and I thought that it only went to one school. So, when I watched EGGS' performance, and saw their INCREDIBLE set - no, seriously, it was fucking amazing - I nearly cried from our lacklustre rock walls and white sheets :(
In the end, we got 3rd place, which wasn't fantastic, but I think a lot of people were happy with it because we bet EGGs - they didn't even get a placing!! IT'S CRAZY!! EGGs did Marilyn Monroe and it completely knocked my socks off into another galaxy! They had this amazing duet near the end and I was like, THIS close from crying at the raw emotion and talent, honestly. Like, don't get me wrong, ours was good too. However I think our theme kind of failed us in that there wasn't a clear plot or storyline, and so all the dances felt quite random. Our theme was a girl's journey into her imagination, where she is trapped somehow symbolically (within her mind, within her living conditions, who knows?). The bit where the dancers came out of the rock walls made everyone go WOAH!!! And the human centipedes and acrobatics of the creature dance was mean!!
We met up with Joanna at the end who first attacked me and ran me into some other family (lol) and then hugged Sueyeon and was clinging off her and wouldn't get off and omg I felt so bad because Sueyeon HATES to be hugged, like, she doesn't let anyone hug her, and she looked like she wanted to throw up when Joey was hugging her hahahahah
So, my seventeenth birthday was very fun, and I felt super special, all thanks to my wonderful friends. I love birthdays! I mean, I carried around 6 balloons all day and an A3 card plastered with pictures of my face! I FELT SO LOVED MAN. IT'S GOOD TO FEEL LOVED :)

2. Meilin's cake
MEILIN BAKED ME A CAKE AND SURPRISED ME WITH IT AT MORNING TEA AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW she gave it to me today because she's away at stage challenge tomorrow. It was so sweet :') she actually took the time out to bake a cake for me gakdfslkdfjasdf what a cutie honestly. I shared it around at our various shared lunches of the day. Look at the sweet little note on it!!
3. Shared Lunches!
Okay so I had two consecutive shared lunches in p3 and p4 - English and French. Needless to say I was very very full after it (especially since it came after the cupcake and cake surprises!!!). Mdm Mort*n is so cute omg i love her!! She told us all to tell her our nicknames after I told her that Jo's new name was Joey hehe. This lead to her revealing that her nickname is/was apparently "fifi"!!! <3

oh non, il pleut sur mon visage!
3/07/2013
Oh you guys commented!!!!!! I'M SO HAPPY
Okay first of all, I think when I was imagining punishments, I was thinking of vlogbrothers and their punishments for 4mins+ but that doesn't really work for me because I can't ask my audience to come up with punishments every time I post AFTER MIDNIGHT (sorry I get really excited when I use that term now)
1. The Intouchables
Okay, so we finished watching this in French today, and everyone (apart for Faizah and Hayon) was either bawling or teary eyed by the end. IT WAS FANTASTIC. . Mdm Morton was all like "IT'S OKAY IF YOU'RE CRYING GIRLS, I'M CRYING TOO!!!" and I think everyone was trying to keep the tears contained but then someone started audibly crying and then the whole class just went for it, and it was just 18 girls weeping over a french movie hahahaha and the lights came on and everyone had red faces and red eyes and tear-stained cheeks oh bless. I started tearing up and then I heard people crying so I started laughing and my laughter resulted in hysterical sobbing and then I couldn't stop.
If you haven't watched it, GO WATCH IT! Seriously, it will absolutely warm your heart. It's not some lame artsy dramatic film, it's really funny! Make sure you get a subtitled version... unless you want to really test your French abilities.
2. Free Period Fuck Yeah
Not sure if I should write about this in case the school authorities find my blog but I had a free period in p1 this morning and was like lol screw it and slept in until 8:30 and went to school at 9 awww yissss r u jealous (you are)
3. Joey
We've changed Joanna's name to Joey and fucked with her for like, 15 minutes after school. THIS BETTER STICK FOR THE WHOLE YEAR.
EXTRA: So, I redid my personality test and apparently now I'm an ESFJ? Not quite sure though - I am definitely a people-pleaser and put a lot of effort into fulfilling "duties" or whatever. And I'm pretty uncomfortable with change and criticism. However I'm definitely not self-sacrificing? Nor am I wholly altruistic? But then again I feel like ESFJ is a lot closer to what I am now, than ESFP is. ESFP is all about being a social butterfly and I don't really think that's me... at least, it's not my main defining feature?

Zavara: I could do guilty pleasures but lbr I don't have much shame and most of my pleasures ARE guilty pleasures so I'm not sure if that would be effective. Charlieissocoollike punishments would be cool except I'm not sure how consistent they would be if I had to them so often.
Anon: Do you want me to die?!?!
Cathee: Pragmatic, but should I keep it within blogger so that it only affects my blog posts? Would that even be much of a punishment? :/
Maybe I should just do sharpie face for every punishment.

A Heartfelt Goodbye to the Dancing Queen
2/07/2013
Ok so no one suggested any "punishments" so I've come to the conclusion that y'all suck. I NEED PUNISHMENTS, PEOPLE!!!!!
1. Stage Challenge
Last Set Workshop today! By the time I left we had pretty much nearly finished all the rock walls so I'm very pleased!!! Jade and I had to take 15 minute swaps with each other as the person being painted on within the rock wall, and I'm telling you it is not comfortable in that groove.
Gonna miss the singalongs (scream-alongs) (incl a lot of ABBA) and the chips. I really started to enjoy it once we got into it!!! And then it's over so quickly! Felt like we were just getting started!

one of the rock walls! this one's obviously not finished yet though
2. Duffy Books
Went to Manur*wa E Primary along with other Values Reps and did a little assembly with them. Really took me back to my primary school days, except I think their school was nicer than mine was at the time! Organised a "challenge" thing that require whipped cream but we only had one can so we ran out for the last two plates which was a bit of a bother but we resolved this by scooping the whipped cream from the other plates onto the last two. Enticing stuff to read about, I know. We finished the visit by going to classrooms to read the books we gave them, and I was in a very small new entrance class where the teacher seemed to be very disinterested in her job. Boy am I not used to reading picture books out loud!! I kinda had to fake my way through it and remember how teachers used to read picture books to me back in the day. Not sure if you guys have tried to read books from the side while holding the book out for full view, but that shit is uncomfortable as fuck. I tried doing different voices for different characters at the start but by the second dialogue I was like fuck it, this is hurting my throat trying to do a deep "dad" voice. I wonder how Misha Collins does it for 4 seasons....
3. New Show...
Shit ok DON'T JUDGE ME I watched an episode of go girls on tv today and I... .... I... really enjoyed it.... UGH I HATE MYSELF I am an uncultured swine... WHAT'S NEXT? SHORTLAND STREET?!?!? PLS SHOOT ME BEFORE THAT EVER HAPPENS! But go girls is really funny? And refreshing? Ew ugh listen to me. I'M WATCHING SHIT PRODUCED BY NZ ON AIR AND GENUINELY ENJOYING IT??? I'M AT A NEW LOW. And what's worse is that I followed that s5 episode up by watching the first episode from the new generation of season 5 and I think I'm probably going to get into it these holidays ha haha hahhaa why?????? I've lost all my dignity, it's gone and it's never coming back.

1984 was the year my parents got married
1/07/2013
Good morning July!
Alors, I've decided that I really cannot continue putting these blog posts before my beauty sleep (I need lots of it) so I think I'm going to start punishing myself every time I post AFTER MIDNIGHT (hehe). Here's where you come in, oh faithful reader. I don't know what punishments would be suitable, but I need something that's not too time consuming, interesting, easy, and that will be done in the blog post following the punish-inducing post. (Because if I'm completing my punishment on the blog post that's the cause of me being punished, it's a bit redundant don't you think? I'd just be depriving myself of even more sleep!)
So yeah, leave in the comments any possible punishments you can think of. I would give you examples of what I'm looking for, but like I said, I have no clue what I could do. But it needs to DISCIPLINE ME INTO POSTING BEFORE MIDNIGHT.
Onto today's three little things of happiness:
1. Books!
Went into the English Dept. library to look for Stasiland but couldn't find it and ended up taking out 1984 and Brave New World. GONNA GET INTO SOME DYSTOPIAN FICTION FOR THE HOLIDAYS AW YIS!!!!! Am I even allowed to randomly get books out from the English Dept??? I hope so.... I've also got We Need To Talk About Kevin out from there since last holidays so I need to freaking get onto that as well. And read my actual English books for Works in Translation. And Game of Thrones. GOD SO MUCH READING I MUST DO!!!
When I got home, I made afternoon tea, and made a conscious decision to not go on my laptop, instead choosing to read 1984 instead. This may seem like a rather trivial thing to write about but I barely ever choose reading over my laptop... Even though I enjoy reading more?? I just habitually open my laptop when I get home. BUT I WILL CHANGE THIS FROM NOW ON! Reading just feels so much more productive because you have tangible proof of making a progress in the story. Maybe that's why reading fanfic just doesn't feel productive - the downwards displacement of that scroll bar just isn't anywhere near as satisfying as seeing that you're a quarter way through the thickness of a physical book.
2. Feelin' alert
So, the whole day went by very fast and by the time it was p6 it really still felt like p3 or something, which meant hometime FELT SO GOOD. Man it sure makes a difference when you don't want to fall asleep in every class!
3. Snapchats leaked
Our school's snapchat page got taken down (presumably by the IT department) (u rock Mr. Angel) (Marry me) (Just kidding, my heart is saved only for Lachie). That page bothered me so much ugh honestly I feel like if you submit a pic, not only does it totally eliminate the TRUST you have built with your snapchat buddy but also, it makes me personally feel a lot more wary over what I snapchat to people.... Which then makes snapchat less fun. SO YAY IT'S BEEN PULLED DOWN WOOHOO HALLELUJAH
Good morning July!

Well shit, today was boring.
1.
Finished my French Journal writing (which was due two weeks ago) and emailed it in. It's 411 words - 161 words over the suggested word count length. Hopefully it somewhat makes up for the late hand in. I kinda really enjoyed writing it though hahaha. The topic was about you meeting your favourite actor/actress on a plane and sitting next to them, so I talked about Jensen and Jared yay!!!
I still haven't done the writing due on the 19th nor the one due on the 26th. And I haven't done the NGO poster due tomorrow.... Guess who isn't getting an "always" for "homework" on their report this term? MEEEEE
2.
MUM MADE WHITE CUT CHICKEN FOR DINNER AGAIN YISSSSSSSSSSS (I convinced her lol)
3.
I watched the HIMYM episode where Marshall meets Lily at the airport with a marching band and I shed a few tears because I'm an emotional wuss. I JUST WANT TO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP LIKE THEIRS IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR?
